Daddy Dearest

Last night I was up until 2.30 am on the phone with my parents.  It felt SO good to catch up with them.  Theirs is a friendship and marriage that I admire.  In whatever circumstance, they manage to find laughter in everything.  And last night, they managed to instill that same laughter in me.  We talked about work, London, the economy, the Bear, love and travel.  It felt wonderful to share the ups and downs of the past few weeks and be reminded that regardless of what happens, their love will always be there.  Always.

Daddy left me with a few words of wisdom:

  • Be good to others always, even if they don’t deserve it.  Loving others is a way of loving yourself.
  • Happiness is in the mind.  Make a conscious effort to be happy in the now.
  • Everything is temporary.
  • Don’t take your work too seriously.  Careers change.
  • You will always have choices (maybe not as many during this current economic climate, but choices are always available).
  • Be thankful.
  • Come home soon!  =)
