a girl in the world

finding beauty, pleasure and grace on the road less traveled

Dad and I went to the Josh Groban concert last night. I have to admit I was somewhat ashamed to admit that we were actually going to see him – it didn’t sound as cool as going to see The Fray or the BEPs. But it was really really good! In addition to his incredible voice, Josh is actually pretty witty! The stage was beautiful, the orchestra was fantastic and all I could do was marvel at the sheer talent of everyone on that stage. He’s what I would call gifted, enlightened, inspired. His passion is contagious and it makes you want to run right out of that stadium to go and pursue some ridiculous, far fetched, artsy dream. I think the type of euphoria that artists like that exhibit on stage is something to strive for – find what you love and drown in it.

This morning, I was on the MUNI on the way to a doctor’s appointment. Bus 45 up Union Street, towards Stockton and Sutter. I’ve always loved taking public transportation in busy cities like Paris, NYC, and now San Francisco. It was 8:30 am, a few minutes after sunrise. It really felt like fresh morning light. Perpendicular streets whizzed past as I looked out the window, giving glimpses of the bay hundreds of feet below. The way the light kisses the Hanzel and Gretel buildings of this magical city amazes me each morning. What beauty!

It inspired me to create this photo blog – a collection of observations and images about my world (wherever that may be at any point in time). There is beauty everywhere, every minute and it seems like such a waste to take it all in and not share it somehow. I’ve fallen in love with this place and as spring decides to settle in, I can’t wait to walk these hills and take in all the tastes and sounds it has to offer.

I love it here. Let me show you just how much.
